Specialist Audiologist
Claire Burns
Claire started her audiology career in 1996 in Exeter where she has remained a loyal member of staff ever since. After completion of her professional exams, she was awarded 'student of the year' in 2000. She then went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Audiology at University College London. During her career, Claire has supported both adults and children in a diagnostic and rehabilitative role. Her specialism is now paediatrics along with assessment and fitting of BAHA. She is always keen to expand her audiological expertise and was particularly excited recently to have had the opportunity to undertake ABR training. During the COVID pandemic, Claire, together with six other colleagues, was re-deployed to become hospital-based newborn hearing screeners. All involved found this to be a really rewarding and positive experience during such unprecedented times.
When she is not holding an otoscope, Claire enjoys nothing more than running around a netball court, spending time with her family and settling down with a good book.
