Hearing Aids
Hearing Aid FAQs
Sometimes, your hearing aid can go wrong and we are always here to help. Here are some solutions that may help troubleshoot the issue at home:
My hearing aid is whistling
- Check mould is inserted correctly
- Have your ears checked for wax
- Have a member of Chime staff check whether your mould is well fitted or loose
- Check the tubing is flexible and not hard or brittle
- If your aid has a volume control, check that it is not too high.
My hearing aid has stopped working
If you hold the hearing aid in the palm of your hand and close it, the aid should ‘whistle’ when switched on. If it doesn’t (or you are unable to test this.)
- Change the battery
- Check your mould is not blocked with wax; even a small amount can stop the sound
- Check your tubing is not kinked, blocked with condensation / water droplets or twisted
- Check your aid is not on the T / Telecoil / Loop setting (only applicable if you have this added to your hearing aid by the audiologist)
